Luna County Sheriff’s Captain Jose Martinez said 69-year-old Edelmira Marquez was airlifted to El Paso for treatment of the injuries she sustained in the wreck, while 70-year-old Gildardo Marquez was transported to Mimbres Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Martinez said Gildardo Marquez was driving a white 1977 Ford Explorer southbound on Highway 11 near mile-marker six when he lost control of the vehicle and it became airborne and then rolled over.
Edelmira Marquez was a front-seat passenger in the vehicle, and there were no other passengers.
Martinez said there was no indication of what caused the accident, and the two victims were transported immediately without providing a statement to deputies.
The accident remains under investigation.
