Included on the agenda is a resolution appealing the Deming School Board’s recent decision not to reauthorize the school’s charter.
Since in New Mexico, a charter school may be authorized by the local school board or the State Public Education Commission, Deming Cesar Chavez Charter High School will have to seek authorization from the state to continue operation.
The governance council’s vote on the appeal will follow an executive – or closed – session to address pending litigation.
The meeting is set to begin at 6 p.m. Monday in the board room of Deming Cesar Chavez Charter High School, 315 East First Street.
The meeting will be open to the public.
