A media release from the state’s federal delegation said Deming was among 50 local airports across New Mexico slated to receive over $25.2 million in federal grants approved by Congress and President Donald Trump last month.
The media release stressed that airports maintain critical operations that local communities in New Mexico depend on as economic links to supply chains and transportation.
The funds are directed to help publicly-owned, commercial airports as the aviation sector grapples with the most steep and potentially sustained decline in air travel in history.
These funds will help airport operators meet ongoing needs and manage current construction projects as operating expenses increase and revenues plummet.
