According to a legal notice, the commissioners will interview applicants Thursday, Dec. 27th, and Friday, Dec. 28th, beginning at 8 a.m. both days.
Interviews will take place in the Luna County Courthouse, 700 S. Silver Ave., and will be closed to the public.
Luna County has been operating under the direction of Assistant County Manager Glory Juarez since early August when the commissioners placed then-County Manager Ira Pearson on administrative leave following a whistle-blower complaint that Pearson had county maintenance personnel work on his private home while on the county payroll.
In mid-October, the commissioners voted unanimously to terminate Pearson’s contract and appoint Juarez as interim county manager.
Criminal charges were filed on Pearson and three other county employees for allegedly using a Luna County credit card to purchase plumbing supplies to be used in Pearson’s private home.
Two of the cases have since been dismissed, but the case against Pearson and maintenance employee Jose Contreras have moved forward to the Sixth Judicial District Court.
