
Seventh-grader Arlan Dawdy recently won the New Mexico 4-H Bee Essay Contest on the topic, “Planting for Bees from Backyards and Up.”
His essay will now compete at the national 4-H contest in May.
Dawdy is a member of the Luna County Green Clovers 4-H Club.
Also, Arlan and his brother Daniel Dawdy were the winners of the junior division exhibit category in the Southwest Region National History Day competition held at the New Mexico Farm and Ranch History Museum in Las Cruces on March 3rd.
Their exhibit for this year's theme of "Leadership and Legacy" was on "Sergei Korolev and the Birth of Space Exploration."
The Dawdy brothers will go on to compete at the state competition in Albuquerque April 24th.
