Reggie Price, who serves as commander of the Tony Viramontes-Deming Chapter 2 of the Disabled American Veterans organization sent an email Monday night which said that due to unforeseen circumstances, no transportation through the DAV will be available to take Deming veterans to their medical appointments until further notice.
Sonja Brown with the Veterans Affairs office in Albuquerque said a van purchased for Deming by the DAV is being stored on the VA grounds in Albuquerque. The VA will assume maintenance and gas costs for the van, but volunteers are needed who are willing to transport Deming veterans to appointments.
Anyone with questions or concerns is encouraged to contact the local DAV office at 546-2201.
Price said they will advise accordingly if DAV transportation resumes.
