Deming Police Chief Brandon Gigante said U.S. Marshall’s officials received information that 23-year-old Daniel Pena was hiding out in Las Cruces.
Gigante said Pena took off running Monday night when officers tried to arrest him, and actually ran a half-mile through a residential section of Las Cruces, even eluding the officers’ canine, before finally being caught.
Pena was wanted here for aggravated burglary, breaking and entering, aggravated fleeing, escape from custody, resisting or evading officers, concealing his identity, larceny, disposing of stolen property and on a probation violation.
Gigante said additional charges may be filed on him for the Las Cruces incident.
