The U.S. Attorney's Office said 32-year-old Crispin Fierro pleaded guilty to a marijuana trafficking charge Tuesday in federal court in Las Cruces.
Fierro reportedly admitted driving a flatbed truck that was carrying just over 1,000 pounds of marijuana when Border Patrol agents pulled him over on State Highway 9 in Luna County on March 4th of last year.
Fierro said he intended to deliver the marijuana to another person.
He remains in federal custody pending his sentencing hearing, which has yet to be scheduled.
According to the U.S Attorney’s Office, Fierro faces between 5 and 40 years in prison.
