And Florida Mountain volunteers have voted Sean Blaine to be their new chief.
County Manager Kelly Kuenstler said the volunteer fire districts must act in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and ordinances.
Kuenstler also said the district chief is accountable and responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the fire district and is responsible for the expenditure of public funds allocated to the fire district.
County Commissioner Javier Diaz is quoted in a media release from the county manager’s office as saying that the operational success of the Luna County fire districts depends heavily on the worthy service of the volunteers who willing donate their time, energy and resources to their community.
The media release said the purpose of the Luna County volunteer fire districts is to provide necessary fire, rescue and emergency services for the residents of and visitors to Luna County.
Luna County has four volunteer fire districts: Cooks Peak, Florida Mountain, Savoy and Sunshine.
