The Continental Divide Trail, which stretches 3,100 miles between the borders of Canada and Mexico, is billed as a world-famous challenge for hikers.
While the southern terminus of the trail is listed as the Antelope Wells port of entry in Hidalgo County, the Columbus port of entry also is an accepted southern start or end point.
Luna County Healthy Kids Healthy Communities is pulling together a group of stakeholders to work on a project to promote the trail as an opportunity for physical activity, economic development, and tourism.
The meeting is set to begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 23rd, in the basement of the Luna County Courthouse, 700 S. Silver Avenue.
The public is encouraged to attend.
