
The American Red Cross has been working in Columbus in southern New Mexico to provide drinking water, tarps and air mattresses, while the Roadrunner Food Bank has been bringing in fresh produce and ready to eat meals.
The American Red Cross has asked Roadrunner Food Bank to provide food and water to the areas and people that have experienced flooding in their homes near Columbus, NM. The Food Bank’s Southern Branch based in Las Cruces, has delivered 500 pounds of produce, 510 pounds of bottled water, 1,500 pounds of dry goods, and one pallet of meals ready to eat to ensure the community of Columbus has access to food and water.
Melody Wattenbarger, president and CEO of Roadrunner Food Bank said, “Providing basic needs such as food and clean water during a disaster is one role of Roadrunner Food Bank.
Red Cross officials say they are still doing damage assessments of the dozens of homes that were damaged or destroyed by the severe weather.
