Board President Christie Ann Harvey announced that Cindy Sosa began work this week for Deming MainStreet – marking the organization’s growth by employing a full-time director.
Sosa replaces Laurie Findley, who left Deming MainStreet to work full time with the Deming Luna County Chamber of Commerce.
Sosa’s most recent employment was as an executive assistant to the Director of Community Outreach and the Chairman and CEO of WestStar Bank in El Paso, Texas.
In that role, Sosa worked with community organizations to serve and improve El Paso, giving her insight into what vibrant, growing businesses are looking for when choosing a place to expand.
She holds a social work degree from New Mexico State University and is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, Phi Alpha Honor Society.
In addition, Sosa has volunteered with the Child Crisis Center of El Paso for the past three years, and serves as a board member for the United Way Foundation, Young Leaders Society.
Sosa said she is excited to work through MainStreet to encourage growth and reinvestment in Deming, adding that she hopes to make MainStreet a welcoming and vibrant part of town that will attract and keep new citizens and businesses.
