
This comes a week prior to Deming Public Schools moving from remote learning to full reentry for students, teachers and staff on April 6.
The Deming Headlight reported that DCCCHS school officials learned of the positive test on Thursday of last week and have been working with the New Mexico Public Education Department and the New Mexico’s Department of Health to take the necessary safety and health measures..
The individual tested a week ago Monday and was notified of the positive result on Thursday. Thursday, the school went into a 24-hour shutdown for deep cleaning and staff and student body began health and safety protocols handed down by the New Mexico Health Department in accordance with the New Mexico Public Education Department.
Contact tracing was put into motion and six staff members were put in quarantine, along with 25 students.
The 48 students who agreed to attend in-person learning are now in a remote learning mode. The 10-day quarantine will expire on April 5th and school officials said in-person learning would resume on April 6, if there are no more positive tests.
