
Jackson will replace Kelly Kuenstler, who is retiring next month.
Jackson, who currently serves as the district manager of the State Engineer’s office, was the only local finalist.
In a media release prepared by Kuenstler, Commissioner Javier Diaz is quoted as saying he was pleased that Jackson is a “hometown guy” and believes his knowledge in natural resources will carry the county forward in a progressive manner.
Commissioner Joe “Oleo” Milo is quoted as saying that Jackson’s prior involvement in community projects was a “real seller.”
And Commissioner Jay Spivey is quoted as being impressed with Jackson’s knowledge of the many county departments and his understanding of county revenues and the budget in general.
