Students from Amanda Speer and Russell Husson-Matter’s fourth grade classroom set up a living wax museum in the school library for parents and visitors to view.
The project represented the culmination of Husson-Matter’s student teaching experience. Husson-Matter is a self-described history buff and said he wanted to make history fun for the students.
The students picked people representing different aspects of New Mexico’s history.
Those interests ranged from Georgia O’Keefe and Billy the Kid to Demi Lovato and Neil Patrick Harris. One student even chose to research aliens in Roswell and presented himself as such.
Husson-Matter said one of his goals for the project was that students would “walk away enjoying” history.
