The purpose of the hearing will be to inform the public on past CDBG program activities, and to receive public input on community development needs and suggestions for future CDBG projects.
The Community Development Block Grant Program was established under Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended, in order to assist communities in providing essential community facilities, providing decent housing for residents, promoting economic development and maintaining a suitable living environment. State and national objectives of the program are focused on activities that benefit low- to moderate-income residents, aid in the prevention and elimination of slums and blight, and meet other community development needs of urgency.
Applications cannot exceed $500,000.Planning applications cannot exceed $50,000.
The public hearing is set for 6 p.m. Monday in the council chambers of the John Strand Municipal Building, 309 South Gold
