
Five Republicans and two Democrats are vying to succeed Javier Diaz, who cannot run again because of term limits.
The Democrats running for county commissioner are, alphabetically, Joel Chinkes and Crystal Pena. The Republicans running for county commissioner are Mike Ellis, Benny Jasso, Reggie Price, LeeAnna Rossi and John Sweetser.
Running for Luna County treasurer are Democrat Gloria Rodriguez and Republicans Jennie Kirchen and Tammy Zumwalt. The successful candidate will succeed Dora Madrid, who is ineligible to run again because of term limits.
The race for District 32 state representative saw four candidates file Tuesday. Running to succeed Dona Irwin, who is retiring, are Democrats Rick Sherman and Candie Sweetser, and Republicans Vicki Chavez and Scott Chandler.
And incumbent 6th Judicial District Attorney Francesca Estevez is being challenged by fellow Democrat Mike Renteria.
Incumbent Luna County Clerk Andrea Rodriguez and incumbent District 35 State Senator John Arthur Smith are both running unopposed for additional four-year terms in their respective positions.
The primary election will be held June 7th.
