
Up for election this cycle are Luna County commission district three, county clerk, county treasurer, state senator and state representative.
Incumbent Luna County District Three Commissioner Javier Diaz and incumbent Luna County Treasurer Dora Madrid are ineligible to run again because of term limits.
State Representative Dona Irwin announced earlier that she did not intend to run again for her District 32 seat.
Incumbent District 35 Senator John Arthur Smith and Luna County Clerk Andrea Rodriguez are running for re-election.
Interested persons who are eligible to run for one of the open county offices must pay a $50 filing fee and file the necessary paperwork between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Luna County Clerk's office, located on the first floor of the Luna County Courthouse.
Anyone interested in declaring his or her candidacy for state senator or state representative must file the necessary paperwork between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Secretary of State’s office in Santa Fe.
