The non-partisan offices will be on the November 5th election ballot as part of the state’s recent election reform measures.
Four school board positions are up for election: Districts Three, Four and Five, which would normally be up this cycle, and District One, currently held by Patricia “Tris” McSherry, who was appointed in May of 2018 to the position made vacant with the resignation of Ron Wolfe and who is required to run for the position in the next election.
The District Three seat is currently held by Matt Robinson, the District Four seat is currently held by Bayne Anderson, and the District Five seat is currently held by Sophia Cruz.
Three Deming Soil and Water Conservation District Board seats are up for election as well. Districts One and Two must be land owners, and District Five is an at-large position.
The District One seat is currently held by Rick Holdridge, the District Two seat is currently held by Dianna Peterson, and the District Five seat is currently held by Seth Hyatt.
Again, declarations of candidacy and a sworn statement of intent to run for Deming Public School Board or Deming Soil and Water Conservation Board must be filed with the Luna County Clerk's office between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27th.
The Luna County Clerk’s office is located on the first floor of the Luna County Courthouse, 700 S. Silver Ave.
