Camp Furlong Day marks the anniversary of the March 9th, 1916, invasion of the Village of Columbus by Mexican General Francisco “Pancho” Villa and his troops.
The day begins with the 16th Annual Cabalgata Binacional, hosted by the Village of Columbus.
Riders from Mexico will cross into the United States at Palomas, Mexico, and join with United States riders, making the three-mile trek from the border to Columbus.
The riders are expected to arrive in Columbus at 10 a.m., and will proceed to the Columbus Community Center Complex on North Boundary Road for festivities, food, craft displays, music and dancers.
At Pancho Villa State Park, Camp Furlong Day events will be held in the Rec Hall with historical talks and slideshows.
And then, in addition to the events on Saturday, the Columbus Historical Society Memorial Ceremony will be held at the Depot Museum on Monday, March 9th, at 10 a.m. in honor of the 18 Americans who lost their lives during the March 9th, 1916, raid.
