The local Cowbelle organization is working with Peppers Supermarket in Deming to promote beef for dad with an event this Saturday.
Organizers say representatives from Borderbelles will be at Peppers Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. distributing recipes and nutritional flyers, and giving out door prizes of beef certificates and beef promotional items.
They also will be serving samples of a national “Beef – It’s What’s for Dinner” recipe called Margarita Beef, which utilizes a relatively inexpensive cut of beef – a top round steak – that has been marinated in fruit juices and tequila before being cooked.
The New Mexico Hereford Association will be participating Saturday as well, helping Peppers employees grill beef sandwiches which they will be selling.
Borderbelles is the Luna County affiliate of New Mexico Cowbelles. The mission of the Cowbelles organization is to promote beef, a locally raised commodity that is part of a healthy lifestyle.
