Sector agents working in Deming, N.M. arrested a convicted sex offender and seized over 1,000 pounds of marijuana in two separate incidents.
On March 3, 2013, agents from the Deming, N.M. Border Patrol Station encountered three Mexican nationals. One of the men was a convicted a sex offender with an extensive criminal history. Natividad Delgado Chavez, 36, was convicted in February, 2008 for domestic abuse and Battery and forcible sexual assault from the East Baton Rouge, Louisiana Sheriff’s Office.
Delgado Chavez was incarcerated for six months for the abuse charge in Louisiana. He was processed by U.S. Border Patrol and is pending prosecution for re-instatement of deportation.
On March 4, 2013, Deming Border Patrol Agents conducted a vehicle stop of the driver of
a flatbed utility vehicle that was traveling west on U.S. Highway 9, mile marker 71. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Crispin Fierro, a 30-year-old United States citizen, exhibited suspicious behavior, which lead the agents to further investigate. The agents observed further discrepancies with the vehicle and called for support from the Canine Unit.
The canine handler and partner conducted a non-intrusive inspection of the vehicle which resulted in the discovery of 1,004 pounds of marijuana in a secret compartment. The narcotics seized
have an estimated street value of $803,000. Fierro was taken into custody, and awaits prosecution.
