The blessing ceremony, scheduled in observance of National Pet Memorial Day, will be held at the Rainbow Bridge, located in the Louise Coffman Memorial Park, the shelter’s public cemetery in which nearly 6,000 animals lay at rest.
Wade Worrell, of Windmill Cowboy Church, will lead the blessings.
After the outdoor portion, blessings will continue inside the shelter along with a public tour of the facility.
The event will begin at 2 p.m. this Sunday, Sept. 22nd, at the Deming Animal Shelter, 2125 Oñate Drive in the Deming Industrial Park.
The event is open to the public and RSVPs are not required, but those wishing to have special arrangements made should contact the shelter at 546-2024.
Following the ceremonies, the annual general business meeting will be held at approximately 3 p.m. in the shelter’s board room. Refreshments will be served.
