Producer and manager Julian Nunez, a 2007 graduate of Deming High School, said the band has released a self-titled debut album and the members are hoping to spur support from their home community.
Border Avenue band members include lead vocalist and song writer Frank Gomez, lead guitarist Jonathan Maynes, bass guitarist Christian Nunez and drummer Sam Campos.
Frank Gomez is a 2005 Deming High graduate who studied choir for four years under the direction of DHS teacher Larry Martin.
Jonathan Maynes graduated from Deming High in 2001 after taking four years of guitar classes from former DHS teacher Albert Valverde.
And Christian Nunez is a 2004 Deming graduate who said he didn’t take music classes while in Deming but was a center for the Wildcat football team and a track-and-field athlete.
The fourth band member – Sam Campos – was a 2001 graduate of Gadsden High in Dona Ana County.
The band reportedly has shared the stage with acts such as John Michael Montgomery, Mark Wills, Cassade Pope and the Charlie Daniels Band.
And they have played shows from the Las Cruces Country Music Festival to the Southern New Mexico Wine Festival to the KGRT Back yard BBQ and more.
Julian Nunez said they are currently scheduled to play the 2014 Southern New Mexico State Fair in Las Cruces.
