It seems he then proceeded to lie to the owners through texts for two days, before he stopped communicating. Luna County Sheriff’s Captain Jose Martinez said his department was notified by the dog owners after the man, identified as 30-year-old Jeremy Reynolds of McAllen, Texas, failed to return calls or texts pertaining to the dogs’ whereabouts. Martinez said their investigation revealed that Reynolds is a fugitive, wanted in Colorado on burglary, larceny and other charges. The dog owners said Reynolds texted them that he and the dogs had spent Wednesday night in Deming, then had a flat on his Mercedes Thursday morning which he had to get fixed. There is no evidence Reynolds ever made it to Deming.
