PictureDr. Francine Jacobs
(Deming) – A Deming doctor and school board member has announced she is moving to Albuquerque.
The Deming Headlight is reporting that Dr. Francine Jacobs will be resigning from the Deming school board halfway through her term and closing her medical practice at Deming Pediatrics so she and her sons can relocate to Albuquerque and her sons can attend Albuquerque Academy.
Jacobs said when her two older sons were offered admission to the private school she felt she couldn’t turn down the opportunity for a more rigorous standard for them.
She said that Academy empowers kids to think outside of the box and to believe they can question assumptions, and she doesn’t get the sense that that is encouraged in the Deming school district.
Her husband, Dr. Victor Cruz, a Deming City Councilman, will remain in Deming and continue his practice as a surgeon at Mimbres Memorial Hospital.
