(Deming) – An elderly Deming man accused of inappropriate behavior with a child may have had other victims and, if so, Deming Police officials are encouraging them to come forward.
Chief Bobby Orosco said 85-year-old Miguel Lujan, who resides in the 1100 block of Shelly, was charged Thursday with attempted kidnapping and enticement of a child following an April 7th incident at Family Dollar off S. Platinum.
Orosco said the victim, a nine-year-old boy, was sent outside the store by his mother to get a shopping cart when Lujan tried to lure him into his pickup with the promise of seeing a “surprise” inside.
The boy rushed back into the store, but was followed by Lujan, who then attempted to kiss the boy when the boy was separated briefly from his mother.
The child got away and told his mother, who immediately called police.
Orosco said detectives used video surveillance to identify Lujan, who was arrested at his home without incident following approval of charges by the Sixth Judicial District Attorney’s office.
Orosco is encouraging any other victims of Lujan’s to contact the Deming Police Department at 546-3012.
