John Strand Municipal Building, Deming
(Deming) – Local law enforcement and emergency medical responders will be participating in a training exercise Saturday morning in downtown Deming.

Police Chief Brandon Gigante said the live scenario exercise is a continuation of a tabletop exercise that took place Tuesday which involved a response to a hypothetical situation involving an active shooter in municipal court, which is located in the John Strand Municipal Building.

Gigante stressed that Saturday’s live exercise is only a drill, so local law enforcement and medical personnel can practice what they would do in the case of such a real-life event.

Gigante said the exercise Saturday will run from 8 a.m.-noon and residents can expect some minor traffic interruptions in front of city hall.

Again, local law enforcement and emergency medical responders will be participating in a training exercise Saturday from 8 a.m.-noon in downtown Deming.  Residents should not be alarmed if they notice a lot of activity near the John Strand Municipal Building during that time.
