
Preliminary figures from the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions show Luna County with an April unemployment rate of 13.7%, down from the revised March rate of 15.6%, and the same as the April 2018 rate of 13.7%.
Luna remained the only county in the state with double-digit unemployment.
The next closest county in unemployment in April was Sierra at 7.2%, followed by Torrance and McKinley at 6%.
In our area, Hidalgo County had 3.4% unemployment, Grant had 4.1%, and the Las Cruces area had 5.3%.
The county with the least unemployment in April was Eddy at 2.7%.
Unemployment statewide was 5% in April – down slightly from March.
The New Mexico labor force estimates show Luna County with a labor force of 10,342 – with 8,926 employed and 1,416 unemployed.
