
Preliminary figures from the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions show Luna County with a March unemployment rate of 19.9%, down from the revised February rate of 20.5%, and down from the March 2014 rate of 20.9%.
Luna, Mora and Sierra remain the only counties in the state with double-digit unemployment in March, with Mora at 10.7% and Sierra at 10% even.
Other counties with high unemployment rates in New Mexico in March were McKinley at 9.2%, Torrance at 8.4% and Catron at 8.2%.
In our area, Grant County had 6.3% unemployment in March, Hidalgo County had 5.9% and the Las Cruces area had 7%.
The county with the least unemployment was Los Alamos with 3.7%.
Unemployment statewide was 6.1% in March – up slightly from February.
The New Mexico labor force estimates show Luna County with a labor force of 10,341 – with 8,279 employed and 2,062 unemployed.
