The training is set for Wednesday, July 10th at the Luna County Depot, 217 N. Country Club Rd.
The presentation on the Open Meetings Act will begin at 9 a.m. and will last approximately 90 minutes, followed by the training on the Inspection of Public Records Act. Attendees can attend either or both sessions. The training will conclude around noon, and the attorney presenters will take questions after each training presentation.
A media release said the purpose of the workshop is to educate residents and elected officials on the importance of transparency and compliance, as well as the rights of the public under New Mexico’s Sunshine Laws.
The training is open to interested members of state and local governments, school boards, commissions, public bodies, media, and the general public.
There is no charge for the training, but participants should preregister. A link to the preregistration form is available at www.nmag.gov by clicking on the July 10th entry under upcoming events, and then clicking on the flyer.
