Deming Police Captain Bobby Orosco said 19-year-old Adrian Vigil was located just after 3 p.m. Monday by Deming Police officers, who arrested him on a warrant charging him with murder and tampering with evidence in the death of his father, 66-year-old David Vigil.
Orosco said the charges could be amended as the investigation unfolds.
Deming Police Chief Brandon Gigante said officers were dispatched to the 300 block of South Ninth Street Saturday at just before 5 p.m.
Gigante said they found David Vigil suffering from life-threatening injuries and had him transported immediately by ambulance to the hospital. He later died from the injuries. Detectives determined that Vigil was murdered, and that his son, Adrian Vigil, was the prime suspect.
The elder Vigil’s body was sent to the Office of the Medical Investigator in Albuquerque for an autopsy.
Officers had been looking for Adrian Vigil since Saturday evening.
Again, 19-year-old Adrian Vigil has been arrested on an open charge of murder and tampering with evidence.
