
Luna County won the Novice and Junior Entomology competitions, Junior Agronomy Judging, Junior Wildlife Judging and Novice Mix-and-Match II sewing contests.
In Novice Entomology, Trinity Ruebush was the high-point individual, Ivan Schultz - second-high, Calleigh Sweetser – third-high, Mark Dominguez – fourth-high and Dillon Gors – fifth-high.
In Junior Entomology, Poppy Schultz was the high-point individual, Kamryn Zachek - second-high and Melody Ruebush - third-high. Sylas Turner also was on the winning team.
In Junior Agronomy Judging, Poppy Schultz was the high-point individual, Ivan Schultz – second-high, Kamryn Zachek – third-high and Sylas Turner – fourth-high.
In Junior Wildlife, Kamryn Zachek was the high-point individual, Sylas Turner - second-high, and Poppy Schultz was in a three-way tie for third-high.
Calleigh Sweetser was the high-point individual in the Novice Mix-and-Match II sewing contest.
Ivan Schultz placed second in Novice Prepared Public Speaking.
Calleigh Sweetser was second-high individual in Novice 22-rifle, and she and teammates Ezra Hensley, Joseph Mesa and Donavan Westbrook placed fourth as a team.
Brent Hays was third-high individual in Junior 22-rifle, and he and teammates Gabe Mesa, Melody Ruebush and Sylas Turner placed fourth as a team.
And in Pasture and Range Judging, Sylas Turner was the second-high individual in the Junior competition, while Mark Dominguez was the third-high individual in the Novice competition.
4-H is a youth organization open to participants from ages 5-19. Novice competitors are 9-11, while junior competitors are 12-13.
District contests include 4-H members from seven counties: Luna as well as Catron, Dona Ana, Grant, Hidalgo, Sierra and Socorro.
