Luna County 4-H is an award-winning organization for ages 5-19, with local youth recently bringing home state championships in Agronomy, Horticulture, Consumer Decision Making, Wildlife Habitat Evaluation, Entomology, and Pasture and Range.
The goal of 4-H is to develop citizenship, leadership, life skills, and responsibility through learning projects and positive youth development approaches.
The chile roast will help finance Luna County 4-H activities and provide project materials for youth.
The funds also support community service projects like the annual shopping spree at Peppers Supermarket to benefit The Healing House, Luna County’s domestic violence shelter.
The chile roast will be held at the Luna County Extension Office, 210-B Poplar Street, on the south side of Courthouse Park, August 24th and 25th, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Roasted green chile will be $25 per sack, and roasted and freezer-ready chile will be $35 per sack.
Each sack weighs approximately 35 pounds and is available in hot or mild.
