Local agencies came together to guide 332 local children through K-Mart for toys, clothing and other gifts.
The children were given up to $40 to spend on whatever they decided to purchase.
Volunteers helped carry the items picked out by the children, as well as provide gentle reminders of their shopping bill.
K-Mart manager Roberto Ruelas, who has been involved with Shop-with-a-Cop for five years, said he thinks the event gets better each year.
The store was staffed with his employees volunteering for the event, and his team worked in advance to ensure extra toys were ordered, with an emphasis on variety.
Ruelas said some of the employees had been helping with the event for over 20 years.
Luna County Sheriff’s Sgt. Richard Cowles worked along with the Shop-with-a-Cop board to organize the event, and raise funds to support it.
Cowles said they had more agencies represented than ever before.
