(Deming) - As the sun goes down and the desert ground starts to come awake with critters, the sky also comes alive with life. What is it? A bird, a plane, Superman? No, it is a Myotis lucifugus (commonly called the Little Brown Bat). Bats have had a bad name because most of us know so little about them. They are seen as pests and disease carriers, but in reality are some of our best neighbors, eating their weight in mosquitoes and other insects (over 1,000+) every night. Do they really get tangled in long hair?
Asombro Institute of Las Cruces will be here at the library on Monday Oct 20 at 3:30 PM to talk about bats. This program is free and open to all ages.
