American Legion Roast Beef Dinner

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 4 will be serving lunch on Wednesday February 12th from 11am until 1pm.  On the menu for lunch will be Roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, peas and carrots plus pudding.  Lunch will be served at the American Legion 619 W. Spruce Street in Deming.  Donation of 6 dollars.  Eat in, carry out or call 546-8385 for delivery. 




Sweetheart Steak Dinner and Dance

The American Legion will be serving a Sweetheart Steak Dinner Saturday February 15th starting at 5:30pm at the American Legion Club 619 W. Spruce Street.  A Great steak dinner with all the trimmings will be served followed by a night of dancing to the music of Sue Barr.

Flowers for the ladies, also pictures will be taken upon request.  Prior reservations for dinner are required for members and their guests.  Please call 546-2302 or 546-8385 for reservations. 

Come enjoy the evening with your sweetheart, family and friends. Cost is only $12.50 per person for a wonderful night.

Deming Arts Center

Deming Arts Center presents "Triumph of Faith" A one man show by Joseph Manuel Chavez, Santero Artist and native son.  Artist Reception will be Sunday February 2nd 1-3pm at 100 S. Gold St. Deming.  The show continues through the month of February Tuesday-Saturdays 10am-4pm.  A portfolio of work nurtured by strong family ties, united by culture and inspired by a sense of spirituality.

DAC Annual Tea

The Deming Arts Council will be having their Annual Membership Tea on Sunday February 16th from 1 until 3pm.  The Annual Membership Tea is the Traditional recognition of the importance of the contributions of the Deming Arts Council members.    For more information about this event or any other event of the Deming Arts Council stop by 100 S. Friends of Rockhound  Meeting:

 The Friends of Rockhound State Park invite you to their next meeting on Wednesday, January 29th, at 10 AM at the Visitor Center.  They’ll have a very special returning guest speaker:  Dennis Kauffman, who has been a leading Ibex hunter and outfitter in New Mexico for the past 30 years.    He’ll be bringing some stunning pictures of these animals to share and interesting stories of his adventures, too.

Friends’ meetings are always open to the public, with free coffee and donuts available.

Affordable Care Act and Medicaid Expansion

Marshall Memorial Library located at 110 S. Diamond St. will be hosting an information table on the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid Expansion from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, January 21. Hidalgo Medical Services representatives will direct the individuals to places in Deming where they can enroll, and let them know what documents are necessary. Representatives will also be able to show the individuals a basic calculation of a cost estimate for different levels of coverage. We will not be enrolling individuals in the health insurance programs. For more information call (575)546-9202.

Hometown Happenings - Afterschool Activities

Afterschool Activities

Child and youth actors needed for First Call's spring play!  Any child in grades 2-12 are welcome to participate in an original comedy by Algernon D'Ammassa.  Prior theatrical experience is welcome but not necessary.  Rehearsals will be held at the First United Methodist Church, next to the city pool, Monday afternoons from 3:30-5:00. This is a free program intended to enrich the lives of children in this community.  For more information, call Sarah at 575-546-2791.


SOUL Kids, an after school fine and performing arts class for children is resuming classes after the Christmas break.  This is open to all children grades K-7.  We offer instruction in painting, clay sculpture, drawing, music, dance, and theater.  Classes are held at the First United Methodist Church, next to the city pool, on Tuesday afternoons, 3:30-5:00.  This is a free program intended to enrich the lives of children in this community.  For more information, call Sarah at 575-546-2791.

Deming High School will be hosting pre-registration nights on the following dates for ALL CURRENT 8th-11th grade students and their parents.

Parents: please join your student and assist them in selecting their electives for the 2014-2015 school year. Please come and join us during your assigned date.
