(Deming) – More details are being  released about the plane
crash Wednesday afternoon that killed the  pilot.

State Department of Public Safety  officials have identified
the plane as a Cessna 150, and say it looks like the  back end of the plane hit something – possible the peak of one of the nearby  mountains – which caused it to crash.

Responders to the scene said  debris was scattered over two
miles.

The pilot has been identified as  78-year-old Carl Link from Albuquerque. He reportedly recently moved to New Mexico from Monett, Missouri.

The plane went down Wednesday  afternoon off State Road 26 – or the Hatch Highway – in an open area away from  any structures.

Federal Aviation Administration  officials reported getting a distress call from the pilot saying he was losing  his vision, but then lost contact with the pilot.

Someone in the area came upon the  wreckage and called it in to authorities.
