Comcast officials have said that internet service has become essential for student success.
So, with support from the Deming Public School district, Comcast is offering its Internet Essentials program in Deming to help close the digital divide for low-income residents.
The program offers residential internet service for $9.95 a month plus applicable taxes, and there will be no price increases, no activation fees and no equipment rental fees. Also, families will receive a voucher to purchase a low-cost computer for $149.99 plus tax, along with access to free digital literacy training in print, online and in-person.
Eligible families must meet the income requirements that would have qualified them for free or reduced-price school lunches, and must not have subscribed to Comcast Internet service within the last 90 days.
You can find out if you are eligible by logging on to internetessentials.com or by calling 1-855-846-8376.
