(Deming) – Keep Luna County Beautiful officials are hosting 20 Keep America Beautiful affiliates from across New Mexico this week.
The initial “Meet and Greet” is set for Thursday from 5:30-7 p.m. at the St Clair Winery east of Deming.
Residents are invited to meet the community and New Mexico affiliates and learn more about the upcoming Great American Cleanup kickoff event sponsored by Keep America Beautiful.
Then Friday, the 2013 Great American Cleanup Kickoff will take place from 9-11 a.m. at Bataan Elementary School.
Keep Luna County Beautiful Director Jessica Etccheverry said this year’s event will focus on educating children on the importance of recycling.
Also, there will be a “Mascot Recycling Challenge” were local mascots race to see who can put all of the recyclables in the right container first.
