(Deming) – Deming High School FFA  and Speech and Debate
students fared well in recent  competitions.

Deming High Principal  Janean Garney said the FFA Board of Trustees this past weekend selected 2012 DHS  graduate Courtney Hurt as the Beef Production Proficiency winner in the state,  and Junior Stephanie Swope as the State STAR Agri-Science  winner.

Also, Hurt was  recommended for the American FFA Degree, and Swope and Junior Brannick Sweetser  were recommended for the State FFA Degree.

The Deming High FFA  Chapter received the top award for its Program of Activities, and the Red  Mountain FFA students placed second in the quiz competition.

And at the Speech and  Debate competition held at Highland High School in Albuquerque, Katie Cox and  Tatiana Villalobos placed second in the public forum debate, while Eli Hutts and  Ryan Larko placed third.

 Also, Katie Poudrier  finalized in Expository
Speech and Original Oratory, and Stephanie Swope  finalized in Original
Oratory.
