(Deming) – Attendance at the 2012 Southwestern New Mexico  State Fair was down Friday due to conflicts with school in session and the  homecoming football game, but Saturday’s attendance was strong.

That information was presented among reports at the annual  meeting of the Southwestern New Mexico State Fair
Association Thursday  night.

Two of the four current board members whose terms were  expiring were re-elected to three-year terms.  Re-elected were Marty Miller and Susie Swope.

And two more people – Berenda McWright and Cal Wenzel – were  elected to three-year terms.

Officers for 2013 are President Sandy Gunter… Vice-President  Susie Swope… Secretary Berenda McWright… and Treasurer Genea  Caldwell.

And the 2013 fair dates were announced. This year’s fair is set for October  9th-13th, which means it will again follow the Southern  New Mexico State Fair, which is set for October 1st-6th.

Caldwell said they’ve already contracted with Bennett  Carnival – the same carnival that does the Great American Duck Race each August  and was part of the 2012 fair.
