(Deming) – A Deming woman reportedly is recovering from surgery for a gunshot wound to her chest following what appears to be an accidental shooting.
The victim’s name was not immediately released.
Deming Police Chief Michael Carillo said his officers responded to a 911 call in the 2100 block of South Silver at about 11:30 Tuesday morning.
The woman was rushed to the local hospital and underwent surgery immediately.
Carillo said they have interviewed someone who was there when the handgun went off.
He said they have turned their investigation findings over to the District Attorney for a decision on whether any charges
will be filed.
