(Deming) – The Marshall Memorial  Library Speakers Series will feature the story of a woman thought to be New  Mexico’s first serial killer.

Storyteller Patricia  Kiddney of El Paso will bring to life the true story of Bronco Sue, a woman who  lived in New Mexico in the 1800s and was accused of murdering her husbands when  she tired of them or when someone better came along.

Her trial in Hillsboro  reportedly drew national attention and was covered by the New York Times. She was represented by attorney Albert  Fountain for the murder in Socorro of her next-to-last husband, and was  acquitted of the charge.

Kiddney has been active  in the El Paso Historical Society since 1992, and grew up on ranches in historic  areas of the lower Rio Grande valley and West Texas.

Her storytelling began  with “The Walk Through History” based on famous people buried in Concordia  Cemetery, and over the years she has developed approximately 20 characters based  on famous and infamous women of the west.

Her portrayal of Bronco  Sue will be presented this Saturday, February 2nd, from 10 a.m.-noon
at 119 East Pine Street. The  presentation is open to the public.
