(Deming) – A Deming High School student has qualified to
shoot in a national Junior ROTC competition in February.
Deming Instructor Anthony Ramirez said Cadet Sergeant Zach Wiese has advanced to the national three-position air rifle competition following a postal match administered by the Civilian Marksmanship Program this fall.
Wiese will shoot in the Service Championships in Salt Lake City, Utah, in February.
From there, teams and individuals qualify to shoot in the National JROTC Air Rifle Championship in March.
Ramirez said last year nearly 7,800 cadets from
all over the nation participated in the JROTC shooting
program.
