(Deming) -- The price tag paid to 4-H and F-F-A members during Saturday's Southwestern New Mexico State Fair Junior Livestock Sale topped $89,000 dollars.

Sale Secretary Diana Peterson said buyers paid a combined  total of $89,234 for the 41 animals and one cake sold through the sale.And that total does not include add-ons  and buyer pool donations.

Last year's total was nearly 92-thousand dollars for 46  animals and a cake.

Annie Kuenstler's Grand Champion Steer was purchased by Farm  Credit of New Mexico and Penn Farms for over $4,500.

Shelbie Peterson’s Grand Champion Lamb was purchased by Don  and Mary Lou Cameron for $1,900.

Zachery Speir's Grand Champion Hog was purchased by Border  Foods for $2,400.

Amanda Borden’s Grand Champion Goat was purchased by Border  Foods for $1,600.

Megan Phillips’ Grand Champion Rabbit was purchased by  Hermanas Ranch for $600.

Melody Phillips’ Grand Champion Chicken was purchased by  State Representative Dona Irwin for $600.

Jonathan Lewis' Grand Champion Turkey was purchased by Debbie  French for $1,200.

And Stephanie Swope’s Grand Champion Cake was purchased by  State Representative Dona Irwin for $900.
