 (Deming) – Here’s the area crime report:
Miguel Marquez, age 30, was arrested for DUI and causing criminal damage to property… David Amaya, age 42, was arrested for prowling, concealing identity and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia… Jeremiah Marquart, age 32, was arrested for trespassing.
Kama Whittle-Salmon, age 41, was arrested on an Adult Probation and Parole Office warrant for a probation violation… Frank Wiggins, age 39, was arrested on a District Court warrant for a probation violation.
Joseph Boomgaarn, age 35, was arrested on a Magistrate warrant and a Municipal warrant – both for failure to pay fines… Jacob Gutierrez, age 21, was arrested on a Magistrate warrant for failure to appear… Delfino Loya, age 54, was arrested on a Magistrate warrant for failure
to appear… Virginia Padilla, age 46, was arrested on a Magistrate warrant for failure to pay fines.
Chris Pena, age 45, was arrested on a Municipal warrant for failure to pay fines… Johnny Rivera, age 41, was arrested on a Municipal warrant for failure to appear… Jeremy Ziller, age 36, was arrested on a Municipal warrant for failure to appear… and Richard Montes, age 50, was
cited for glue or aerosol abuse.
In juvenile news… two 16-year-old boys – one from Deming and one from Las Cruces – were cited for shoplifting at Wal-Mart.
And in other news… $500 in criminal damage occurred to doors and windows on a rental property off West Hemlock… a security camera valued at $250 was taken from a business off West Railroad Avenue… and mailboxes were damaged off West Shelly and South Saddler.
 (Deming) – A fist fight turned into a gun fight Saturday
night at the Deming Moose Lodge.
Deming Police Chief Michael Carillo said 42-year-old Gilbert Chavez of Deming has been charged with aggravated battery
with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful carrying of a firearm into a licensed liquor establishment.
Carillo said Chavez was involved in a fist fight at the Moose Lodge with a 34-year-old man, and after the man knocked Chavez down, Chavez came up pointing a handgun he had tucked in his waistband.
The victim left the Moose Lodge, running south in the alley between Silver and Gold streets, and Chavez took off after him, shooting at him. The victim received a 4” to 6” laceration on
his back where a bullet grazed him, and he was treated and released from the local hospital.
Chavez was tracked down by officers after he fled the scene in his vehicle.He was flown to El Paso for treatment of injuries he sustained in the fist fight. No one else was injured. The fight
occurred Saturday just before 11 p.m..

Timothy Raxter, age 50, of Sikeston, Missouri, was arrested on a Missouri warrant for DWI – persistent offender, no driver’s license – third offense, no registration, improper equipment and no seatbelts, and on two Magistrate warrants for failure to pay fines… Alexander Lerma, age 19, was arrested for DUI and minor allowing self to be served alcohol… Thomas Hooten, age 38, was arrested on a District Court warrant for burglary, theft of a credit card, theft of identity, unlawful use of a credit card and two counts of larceny.
Richard Montes, age 50, of El Paso, was arrested for larceny and aerosol spray abuse… Clinton Remondini, age 31, was arrested for driving while license was suspended or revoked and failure to yield… Ernesto Dominguez, age 40, was arrested for driving while license was suspended or revoked… Eric Payan, age 31, was arrested for driving while license was suspended or revoked.
Francisca Gallosa, age 30, was arrested on a District Court warrant for a probation violation… Vanessa Mediano, age 27, was arrested on a District Court warrant for a probation violation… Raul Medina, age 31, of Santa Fe, was arrested on a District Court warrant for a probation
violation… Antonio Arroyo, age 27, was arrested on a Magistrate and a Municipal
warrant – both for failure to appear.
Thomas Hauser, age 54, was arrested on a Magistrate warrant or failure to appear… Marlene Martinez, age 37, of Las Cruces, was arrested on a Magistrate warrant for failure to appear… Lisa Munoz, age 32, was arrested on a Magistrate warrant for failure to pay fines… Leobardo Solis, age 25, was arrested on a Magistrate warrant for failure to appear… Erika Jimenez, age 27,
was charged with shoplifting and trespassing at Wal-Mart… a 15-year-old girl was cited for possession of marijuana… and a 13-year-old boy was cited for minor allowing self to be served alcohol.
Also… three arrowheads valued at $2,000 each were taken from the local museum… four tires and rims with a combined value of $700 were taken from the bed of a pickup off North Gold… a purse with over $300 cash was taken from a restaurant off North Platinum… $250 in criminal damage occurred to a chain-link fence off East Walnut… a window valued at $100 was broken on a
residence off South 12th Street… and a counterfeit $10 bill was discovered at a local fast-food
restaurant.

Jose Tarango, age 18, was arrested on two Magistrate warrants for failure to pay fines and was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia… John Castro, age 21, was arrested on two Magistrate warrants for failure to pay fines… Christina Garcia, age 22, was arrested on a Magistrate warrant for failure to pay fines… David Marquez, age 29, of El Paso, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear… Macario Ortega, age 52, was arrested on a Municipal warrant for failure to pay fines… Rafael Camacho, age 48, who was already incarcerated in the Luna County Detention Center, was
served with a Municipal warrant… and Vickie Montano, age 42, was cited for shoplifting at Wal-Mart.
Also… two signs valued at $200 were taken from off Keeler Farm Road… and $200 in criminal damage occurred to a door at a residence off San Miguel.
 50-year-old Thomas Lehnerd (Deming) – A Luna County resident is facing 170 counts
related to alleged child sex abuse offenses in Pennsylvania.
50-year-old Thomas Lehnerd was arrested by the Luna County Sheriff’s Office on a Butler, Pennsylvania, warrant containing an extensive list of charges, including a combined 126 counts of aggravated indecent assault with a child and deviate sexual intercourse with a child.
Sheriff’s Investigator David Holguin said the charges involve three female family members, with the crimes beginning when the children were toddlers and continuing for years.
Some of the crimes date back to nearly 20 years ago, and the victims are all now adults.
Lehnerd moved here with his wife three years ago after visiting an aunt who lives in Luna County.
He was arrested at his Marana Road Southeast home Tuesday after local authorities were notified by Pennsylvania authorities that he may be living here.
Holguin said there was no reason to believe Lehnerd committed any crimes in Luna County.

Also… an ATV, a generator and a utility trailer with a combined value of $2,700 were taken from a residence off the Columbus Highway… a truck battery valued at $150 was taken from off East Fourth Street… a bicycle valued at $150 was taken from outside the Columbus library… and a
residence off South Nickel was broken into.

Also… a 6x12 cargo trailer with furniture and miscellaneous items was taken from a location off East Emerson Drive; the trailer was valued at $4,500 and the contents at $1,000… a laptop, CD player, speakers and amplifier with a combined value of over $1,000 were taken from a
business off West Spruce… a 50-year-old woman reported being the victim of identity theft… and a barbed-wire fence was cut off Peru Mill Road.
 Rick Reese |  Terri Reese |  Ryin Reese | LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) — A federal judge is considering whether to grant a new trial to a Deming couple and their son who were convicted of making false statements during a 2011 firearms sting at their Luna County gun store.
A jury convicted Rick and Terri Reese and their son, Ryin, in August of making false statements on investigation forms. They were acquitted of most of the charges stemming from an investigation in which undercover agents posed as straw buyers of guns in 2011.
According to the Las Cruces Sun-News, a defense motion says prosecutors violated the defendants' due process rights by failing to turn over evidence that could challenge the credibility of a prosecution witness.
Judge Robert C. Brack held a hearing Monday in Las Cruces.
